Vintage Gerbe Fully Fashioned Stockings VS017

Gerbe is one of the big luxury French hosiery brands today and they've been in business since 1885. These beautiful black nylon Fully Fashioned Stockings have been nestled in their crinkly cellophane packaging for over 60 years!

The welt imprint of 'Filet Corail' translates as filet 'Coral Net'. This could explain the coral colour on the welt imprint? Either way, it has nothing to do with the weave of the stocking which are a traditional stocking knit.

Alas, it's impossible to tell the heel type without opening the packet but I'd be very, very, surprised if they weren't point (otherwise known as French) heels.

Vintage Sizing: At a size 8, these stockings should officially fit a UK foot size 2, US foot size 4, Euro foot size 35. As well as being officially tiny please bare in mind that stockings were designed to be worn lower on the leg than today.

Welt Imprint: There is a wonderful welt imprint on the welt of these stockings. As with all vintage welt imprints unfortunately they will flake off when worn. If you do find a pretty welt imprint on a pair of stockings the best way to preserve it is to frame them and keep them as a piece of art.
