Seamless RHT Stockings

Seamless RHT Stockings

Go for 1960s glamour with our Seamless RHT Stockings. RHT stockings were the first ‘non seamed’ stockings to be made. These sheer seamless stockings are made from 100 percent sheer 15 denier nylon just as they would have been in the 1950s and 60s.

These early seamless stockings were known as RHT stockings as they feature a reinforced heel and toe. Our Seamless RHT Stockings are made in the UK on vintage circular knit machinery, just like the original versions.

If you love the soft, silky, feel of our 100% nylon Fully Fashioned Stockings but don't want to worry about getting your seams straight then our Seamfree RHT (reinforced heel and toe) stockings will be perfect for you.

Although RHT stockings started being made as early a 1949, they didn't really become popular until the 1960s making them perfect if you're a fan of Betty Draper or Joan Holloway.

RHT stockings were the first seamfree stockings to be made when circular knit machines were developed for the hosiery industry. Until then, stockings were knitted flat and the seam actually held the stocking together. Circular knit machines, as the name implies, knit the stockings in a tube.

The first RHT stockings were made in 1949 but there were a few teething problems. People were used to wearing fully fashioned stockings which tapered to fit the leg. The first tubular RHT stockings, which were made from the same non stretch or crepe nylon, did not have the fit customers expected. It wasn't until the mid 1960s, when circular knit stocking machines had been improved, that RHT stockings took over from Fully Fashioned Stockings in popularity.

Our seamfree RHT Stockings are made from the same silky soft nylon as our Fully Fashioned Stockings and are made in the same British factory.
