How do you store your lingerie and stockings to keep it safe and easy to find that certain bra or pair of nylons first thing in the morning? If you need some inspiration, here is how I organise my collection.
Storing Your Stockings
I store my stockings in a vintage wooden file cabinet my husband gave me for Christmas a few years ago. In the two deeper bottom drawers I keep them in jam jars; in the shallower top drawers I store them neatly rolled.
I picked up the jam jar tip from an old magazine article from the 1950s. I know I have mentioned it before, but I haven’t found anything better since — they work so well. You can use any jam jar, but I use hexagonal ones from Lakeland. The hexagonal shape is a great space saver as the jars slot together like a jigsaw puzzle.
Sheer stockings are super delicate, and it’s not just about when you’re wearing them — they also get damaged during washing and storage. By keeping them in a glass jar there are no sharp edges to cause snags, and you can clearly see what you have and what you might need to restock.
How to Store Your Lingerie
For lingerie I use small plastic containers that fit the depth of the drawer and sit five across, giving me five neat rows of lingerie sets. The original containers were from IKEA, but the key is finding ones that fit your particular drawer.
I always fold and store everything by set — bra, knickers and suspender belt together — rather than grouping all bras, all knickers and so on. It is much easier to grab a complete set first thing in the morning. How to Store Your Corset
I generally only have one corset on the go at a time, which I wear every day. I hang it to air overnight over the end of my bedstead, but you can simply drape it over the back of a chair. It is very important to let it breathe overnight as corsets are not the easiest garments to clean.
