The muted tones of our Claret Contrast Seamed Stockings might be one reason behind their popularity as they give a more 'believably true vintage' look than some of our brighter seams.

Our Claret Contrast Seamed Stockings are designed to fit up to a UK dress size 18, US size 14 and up to approx 29" thighs. They're made from sheer 15 denier nylon with elastane for stretch: 87% nylon, 10% elastane, 3% polypropylene. Very importantly they feature our signature wide, stretchy welt which is comfortable and period correct.

• What Katie Did was the first brand to design Contrast Claret Seamed Stockings. All of our Glamour seams are made to our own unique design. These elegant contrast claret seamed stockings quickly became one of our best sellers and although for a while they battled with our green seamed stockings for top spot. In recent years, however, they have become the sure fire winner.

  NOW MORE DURABLE

  This colourway of our Glamour Seams has been upgraded and now features a more opaque toe and foot. The weak point in these nylons was the toe. With the new, thicker, toe they will last longer than the previous version.

  ARE CLARET CONTRAST SEAMED STOCKINGS PERIOD CORRECT?

  We often get asked if colourful contrast seamed stockings were made in the 1950s and the answer is yes, although they were very rare. Stockings were far more expensive (in terms of disposable income) in that era and so most people would stick to nude shades for daywear and possibly black for evening.

It gives the retro perfect look of 1950s stockings which tended to have wider welts (or tops).
