Corset Fitting - It's Not Just About Your Waist

Corset Fitting - It's Not Just About Your Waist

Different Corsets for Different Body Shapes

If you're new to retro style hosiery, or hosiery of any kind, then the terminology can be confusing - but help is at hand!

Check out our guide to hosiery and all will be revealed.

Why is it important to take more than just your waist measurement into account when buying a corset? In this video I try on our corsets to show you.

When it comes to corsets, we do a variety of different styles which suits a variety of different figures. We make them in plain black matte satin, and plain peach matte satin to match our lingerie ranges. They're durable, everyday corsets to be worn to shape your body. They're not worn necessarily to look pretty, although we hope they look good as well! My advice is to go for the corset that fits your measurements the closest, not necessarily the shape or the style you want when you first look at our website.

One Corset Does Not Suit All

We shoot our corsets on a variety of different body shapes but it's not possible to show every corset on the same model side by side as there will be fit issues (as seen in the video above!) However, most models can wear at least 2 styles with a great fit.

For example, Marianne Cheesecake looks geat in our Zita and Luna but the styles with flared hips would not work with her figure. Likewise Miss Sugar Rush looks amazing in our Luna, Morticia and Vamp but would get a lot of hip squidge in our Zita.

Zita Corset for Slim Hips

First up we have our Zita corset which will suite you if you have slender hips, with a waist to hip ration of less than 10 inches (ideally around 7-9 inches). It works particularly well on slender figures with little body fat to squish. Our Zita corset does not flare out from the bottom of the hip so your lower hip should not flare out considerably beneath the corset either (please see video for demo).

Luna Waspie Corset for Most Body Shapes

Our Luna Waspie Corset is an adaptable little cincher that suits a variety of figures as it finishes quite high up on your hip. Above you can see it on he slender hipped Marianne Cheesecake and he super curvy Sugar Rush. However, this adaptability can come at a price with he possibility of tummy squidge at the bottom of the corset. Because of this, it is best to team it with less fitted garments or as outerwear as Marianne does here, if it is a concern to you.

Morticia Corset for Classic Hourglass

Our Morticia Corset is our best selling style and is perfect for if you have around 10" between your waist and hip. Originally launched in 2005, our Morticia was revamped in 2015 with a slightly shorter length giving a better fit for most torsos.

Vamp Corset for the Super Curvy

The newest addition to our corset family is our Vamp corset which has a little more room in the rib and hip than the Morticia and is perfect for if you have a 12" difference between your waist and hip.

Extreme vs Standard Corsets

All of the corsets mentioned above also come as an extreme version so you can continue your waist training journey with a corset shape that's familiar to you (or go extreme from the start if the measurements suit you better).

Our Corset Names

Most of our lingerie ranges are named after actresses and celebrities from the first half of the 20th century, but when it comes to corsets we've gone a little darker.

Morticia, is of course, named after Morticia Addams from The Addams Family.

Vamp is named after Vampira who had the most amazing waistline.

Luna is after the character Luna Mora in Mark of the Vampire (1935)

While Zita is named after Zita Johann who appeared in The Mummy (1932).
