What Katie Did was the first brand to reintroduce contrast colour seamed stockings to the modern vintage scene. Inspired by rare mid-century examples, our designs sparked a hosiery revival.

Katie owns genuine 1950s stockings with coloured seams, including navy, green, and pink on nude legs. These rare pieces helped shape our own designs.

Are Colourful Seamed Stockings Period Correct?

Yes—though they were uncommon. In the 1950s, most seamed stockings were black or neutral. Colourful seams appeared later in the decade.

They were expensive, hard to find, and seen as fashion-forward. Today, they offer a joyful way to express vintage style.
