Our CC09 is our most authentic 1940s-style bra, and that authenticity isn’t for everyone. It creates a true period-correct, pointed silhouette: fit and shape expectations were very different in the 1940s compared to today.

Because of this, it has one of our higher return rates for β€œitem doesn’t fit.” In most cases, it’s the shape rather than the size. Please do check the measurements in the product description carefully before ordering. That said, it’s rated β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… 4.8 out of 5 β€” so you’ll likely either love it or hate it!

πŸ“ We’re a small and friendly team at What Katie Did, and we’re always happy to help with sizing questions. Not sure? Try our Celia 1940s Bra for a slightly softer vintage shape.

The band for our satin 1940s Bra has very limited stretch.Β

This soft cup bra features traditional band sizing and barely any stretch, just as it would have in the 1940s. The cups are shaped to create a natural, period-appropriate silhouette, while delicate nylon trim beneath the bust adds a subtle, feminine touch. Non-stretch ribbon straps and minimal elastic at the back complete the authentic construction, making this bra a must-have for vintage purists and fashion historians alike.

Made from 100% polyester satin in a peach tone reminiscent of original underpinnings, the CC09 bra is designed to be worn as part of a full set with our matching French knickers or high-waist pieces from our peach lingerie ranges.

The CC09 style, named after its 2009 launch, pays tribute to the CC41 Utility Scheme, introduced during wartime rationing to ensure quality and durability in British fashion. While we don’t follow fabric restrictions to the letter, we’ve stayed true to the spirit and design of original CC41 lingerieβ€”bringing you a bra that looks and feels as close to the real thing as possible, while using modern materials for long-term wear.

Each CC09 bra is ethically crafted in our trusted Indian factory, where our vintage-inspired pieces are sewn with care by skilled machinists.

Decided to get this bra so I’d have wire-free options for summer use. The vintage β€˜bullet bra’ fit was a bit of a surprise, so I’ll likely wear it β€˜just for me’ for now lol. The seller ensured everything was very carefully packaged to arrive safely and promptly. A great seller and lovely itemsβ€”thank you!

I see that the price has gone up.

I see that the price has gone up. I understand but I don't know that I can afford it in the future. I have the problem of having a very narrow rib cage and **** that are larger than they appear. I am already on the second hook on both of the bras that I purchased. I really love this style. It fits me very well. Being a 32 E, it is very difficult for me to find bras that fit. If I buy a large band size, my bras don't last very long.

Response: 20th November 2025. The price rise is alas due to the Trump Tariffs. We're hoping that the tariffs be eliminated soon, however as the de minimus has been cancelled there will still be duty to pay (but nothing like the tariffs!)

One of a Kind ! β™₯️

I'm wearing it all the time + am really happy with it. I thought that since it had no stretch material it wouldn't be a perfect fit but it does fit very well . I especially like the satin-y, ribbon straps which are more comfy than other bras . Also, the bra itself is quality material.

Glamour bra

As this item is made from lovely soft material it has no stretch in to fit properly you really need to size up, I brought to my size but it was to small for me.
The style and material are wonderful

Good bra, albeit, not for everyone

Since I wear wired 34D bras, I ordered this exact size, unfortunately, it was too small. Thankfully, excellent customer service suggested increasing the cup size, which I did (and I now know my WKD bra size, being your non wired bra size, so do keep that in mind) and now the fit is much better.
The band has very little give, so be weary of it, as it is quite tight. If you have a heavy bust, the beautiful but delicate decorative stitching might stretch quite a bit, since the fabric is thinner than the one used on vintage bras (since the cups and sides are cut in one layer of satin, just like vintage ones), and the pointiness can be diminished with a camisole. In essence, not an everyday, all day bra and might not be the one for you.

Lovely 1940's shape

Great quality, although some little frays are starting to appear at the band after 3 weeks of wear. It's not super noticable. I'm just happy I get to wear a 40's style bra beneath my 40's dresses and blouses! It truly helps to shape the chest even without padding!

I love this bra. I should have stuck with this style and not tried another style. Very supportive.

Easy to wear if a bit pointy

I have only worn it once but the band and one is much more comfortable and figure flattering than the 1940s bra. I gave this a 4 because the cups are a bit pointer than I was anticipating and while that isn't a huge issue is was a bit shocking to me. All in all it is comfortable and I will definitely get a fair amount of wear out of it.

Overall good bra

The bra overall is fantastic. I have a small bust however, this bra gives me ample shape with no padding. My only word of caution is that the band is a little tight, the elastic has very little give which makes the bra a little sore if you spend your whole day sitting or have less meat on your bones. Also, more structure to the conical nature would've been nice but I understand that this bra isn't all about structure. Great bra. Get one now!

I liked the bra but sadly it was the wrong size. I plan to exchange for the right one soon.

Up a size

I love that bra! Its a more round shape that bullet bra but still have a vintage shape. More casual and very comfortable. I'm a 38C in maitress bullet bra but 38D in this one so you need to go a size up.

Very lovely bra, I remember trying it on in store long time ago but wasn’t too sure back then. Only β€œissue” is that, due to the fabric, the shoulder straps tend to slip and and don’t keep the desire length.

Not like other bras but that's a plus

I really loved this bra and you do get the vintage feel when you wear it. Just be aware that because there is no stretch you may have to size up. I have bought a few bras from WKD but this purchase was different. I found the customer service team great because I had to exchange my 'normal' size and size up. Once I did, it was perfect and their advice was spot on.

Gorgeous and glamorous

This bra is silky and soft yet firmly supportive at the same time, I think due to the under band and firm wide straps. It makes me feel glamorous no matter what I wear on top.

Beautiful bra

Lovely bra, very vintage look, shape and touch to it. Unfortunately this bra did not suit me and I returned it. Customer service at What Katie Did is excellent.

Beautiful piece

Beautiful, simple and comfortable the way a corset is (no digging and poking, but being held in with no give). The stitches and hems are visible on the inside (which makes sense with the WWII rations). It does not look like the picture of the model with the choker with regards to color (the color is warm, not pale) and pointy-ness of the cups (they're quite pointy).

This is a great piece!

I shop from this company a fair bit as I like my vintage and I must say that this is the best piece so far as it is truly replicating vintage underwear - the stitching is perfect, the design of the pattern and cut is so vintage it is almost unbelievable and also the material they've decided to use for this garment is definitely perfect.
As I mentioned I buy from what Katie did a faaair bit and this has been the best of the bunch. Truly quality....I think you could UP the price of this one at least 15% AND make your future garments based more on the quality and design of this one!

Sizing

The size of my bra is perfectly. But only because I read from some other experiences of customers that I should buy it one size larger. And you told me the same. The material, the color and the fitting is now very well. I think about to buy other clothes from you in the future.

I've heard I should size up when purchasing this bra, but I'm a 38C and there isn't a size up in the band I could go. What should I do?

What Katie Did

Hi Amber,

Thank you for reaching out!

For our CC09 we use the plus four sizing method where we take your underbust measurement and add four inches to get the ideal back size, as this style has very limited stretch in the backband.

If you can kindly let me know your underbust measurement I can assist further with sizing for this style.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Kind Regards,

Charlie
