Vintage Motor-Racing Fashion

Our Remus Racetrack collection was made for days surrounded by historic cars. Created for What Katie Did by artist Jacqueline Davies, the exclusive print celebrates 1930s ERA racing cars and famous English hill climbs, including Prescott and Shelsley Walsh. Its shades of mid blue, inky blue and black were inspired by the paintwork of the original Remus ERA racing car.

Choose the full-skirted Thomasina Dress for a classic 1950s silhouette or the wide-legged Lucy Beach Pyjamas for a touch of glamorous 1930s resortwear. The coordinating Bowling Shirt, scarves and Obi Belt make it easy to introduce the print more subtly or create a matching vintage motor-racing outfit.

Begin with Vintage-Inspired Foundations

The secret to a successful 1940s or 1950s outfit often lies beneath the clothing. Period dresses were designed to be worn over structured lingerie, so modern underwear can sometimes leave even a beautifully cut vintage-style dress looking as though something is missing.

A vintage-inspired bra creates a more defined bustline, while a waist cincher or corset emphasises the waist beneath a full skirt. Under fitted dresses and pencil skirts, shapewear helps create a smooth line through the waist and hips.
