Priscilla 1960s Lingerie and Loungewear
Priscilla Collection: Vintage-Inspired Babydoll and 1960s Lingerie
Sweet, sheer, and ever so slightly subversive—the Priscilla Collection is our romantic tribute to the timeless babydoll, reimagined through the lens of 1960s lingerie. From soft pastel hues to ruffled finishes, each piece in the collection celebrates the playful femininity of vintage sleepwear, while remaining wearable and flattering for the modern lingerie lover.
At the heart of the collection is the Priscilla Baby doll, a floaty piece made from powder blue georgette and trimmed with delicate ruffles at the neckline, sleeves and hem. The empire line is gently shaped with soft elastic under the bust, ensuring the silhouette remains flattering while still evoking the lightness and charm of a traditional baby doll. Finishing just below the bum—not the mid-hip, as some older styles did—it’s designed to feel dreamy and elegant, without overwhelming your natural shape.
The babydoll has come a long way since its early days as wartime nightwear. First introduced in the 1940s by American designer Sylvia Pedlar, the style was created out of necessity, responding to fabric shortages with shorter, simpler nightgowns. It wasn't until the release of the 1956 film Baby Doll, directed by Elia Kazan and starring Carroll Baker, that the term baby doll entered the mainstream. Since then, the style has become synonymous with flirtation, femininity and freedom—an enduring symbol of retro glamour.
Our Priscilla Babydoll pays homage to this history while adding a few subtle updates of its own. Though the name leans into 1960s Americana (a nod to the iconic Priscilla Presley), the styling remains firmly rooted in the 1950s and early ‘60s, the golden era of 1960s lingerie. Pair it with the matching knickers or bloomers for a classic boudoir look, or style it with stockings and a suspender belt for added retro flair. In one of our favourite styling moments, we layer the babydoll over our peach Harlow Suspender Belt—proof that you can still wear your shapewear even under something so airy and soft.
Also featured in the collection is the Priscilla Bra, a 1960s-style balconette with underwire support and an intricately hand-pleated trim. Designed to sit lower on the bust, it pairs perfectly with wide or square necklines and offers a subtle alternative to the pointier shapes of the 1950s. Coordinating 1960s-style knickers and bloomers add charm and comfort, both finished with frilled elastic at the waist and legs, while the cropped babydoll top gives you another option for sleepwear or sultry summer loungewear. Whether worn indoors or layered into an outfit, each piece is thoughtfully designed to be as beautiful as it is wearable.
While the babydoll has made a strong return to mainstream fashion in 2025—seen on the runways of Loewe, Chloé, and Cecilie Bahnsen—our version stays true to its vintage roots. Unlike the oversized babydoll dresses currently dominating the high street, the Priscilla pieces focus on the original intention of the style: to feel light, soft, feminine, and just a little bit cheeky.
Every item in the Priscilla collection is ethically made in our main factory in India, where we’ve partnered for many years to ensure our garments are produced with care, attention to detail, and fair working conditions. We use custom-dyed georgette, soft powermesh, and cotton gussets to ensure comfort alongside visual appeal.
Whether you’re a lifelong vintage lingerie lover or simply looking to explore a more romantic side of retro fashion, the Priscilla Collection is a gentle reminder of why the babydoll has remained a favourite for over 70 years—and why it still feels just as fresh and relevant today.
