Suspender Belts Designed for Wearing Stockings

A suspender belt should do more than look lovely with your lingerie: it needs to support your stockings comfortably as you move. A secure fit around the waist, adjustable straps and dependable clips all contribute to how well it works.

Our collection draws on the practical details of vintage lingerie, when stockings were an everyday essential. Choose a shape and fabric you enjoy wearing, whether you prefer a deeper belt with more coverage or a narrower design beneath your clothes.

Why Choose a Six-Strap Suspender Belt?

Six straps provide three attachment points for each stocking, distributing support around the welt rather than relying on just two clips. This is particularly useful with fully fashioned stockings, whose non-stretch nylon benefits from evenly spaced support.

Our core six-strap styles have adjustable straps and metal clips. The extra attachment points can also help keep seamed stockings aligned, although the fit of both your stockings and belt still matters.

How Should a Suspender Belt Fit?

A suspender belt needs a firm, comfortable fit so the pull of your stockings does not drag it down. Measure firmly around your natural waist and compare that measurement with the size chart for your chosen style.

The belt should feel secure before you attach your stockings. If it moves downwards once they are fastened, check both the belt’s fit and the length of the stockings and straps. Stockings that are too short, or straps adjusted too tightly, can pull on even a well-fitting belt.

Our small team can help if you are between sizes or unsure which shape will suit you.

How to Attach Your Stockings

Put on your suspender belt and position your stockings before fastening the clips. Open each clip, place the stocking welt over the button, then slide the metal loop over the fabric-covered button to secure it. Attach the clips to the welt rather than the delicate leg of the stocking.

Adjust the straps so they support the stockings without pulling excessively. Sit down as well as stand up when checking the fit, and give the back straps enough length to accommodate movement.

For everyday practicality, wearing your knickers over the suspender straps allows you to remove them without unfastening your stockings.

Suspender Belt or Garter Belt?

They are two names for the same garment: “suspender belt” is the usual British term, while “garter belt” is commonly used in the USA. Both describe a belt with straps that attach to stockings.

These belts are intended for stockings designed to be worn with suspenders. Hold-ups use a gripping band to stay in place independently, and their thicker tops may not fit comfortably into suspender clips.

Caring for Your Suspender Belt

Follow the care instructions for your chosen style. Fasten hooks before washing and handle straps and clips gently to avoid catching delicate fabrics. When storing your belt, keep its hardware away from fine hosiery so your stockings are protected from snags.
