A true labour of love, this Vintage Boned Black Satin Bra is inspired by an extraordinary original from the elusive French label Maryse—likely based in Marseille, though little else is known. Discovered many years ago, the piece stood out for its unusual construction, with vertical boning set into the lower half of the cups. Long admired but seemingly impossible to recreate, it remained a source of inspiration until we finally rose to the challenge.

Reimagined using the pattern of our much-loved Celia bra, this 1950s Boned Black Satin Bra has been carefully adapted to create a softer, rounder silhouette than the sharply pointed original. The cups are crafted from a heavier-weight black satin with a subtle, refined sheen, giving a more luxurious look and feel, while the interior is lined in 100% cotton, just as vintage examples would have been.

The vertical boning provides gentle support and uplift, creating a naturally flattering shape without the need for underwires. While technically a soft cup bra, the structured detailing gives it a unique feel: combining comfort with a level of support not often found in non-wired styles.

The silhouette is smooth and understated, making it ideal for wearing beneath clothing when you want a 1950s-inspired look without an exaggerated point. At the same time, the distinctive boned cups lend a directional edge, allowing it to be styled as a statement piece in its own right: proof that true vintage design can feel just as relevant today.
