Vintage Coriander Aristoc Landsdowne Fully Fashioned Stockings VS032

These stunning stockings feature a Cuban Heel and are made from 30 denier nylon which certainly isn’t as ‘hitchy’ as the yarn used for modern fully fashioned stockings. The heavier denier also adds to the durability.

The colour is a light nude shade called 'Coriander'. The packet says 'high twist' which refers to the say the nylon is twisted before being knitted. Although they look like a smooth stocking knit the twist means that there should be a little give.

Just in case you didn’t know, Aristoc was the last mainstream hosiery brand to make Fully Fashioned Stockings. Although I don’t have the exact date, I do remember a friend sacrificing her last pair for a photoshoot in the early 1990s. The story goes, that as the people who worked the vintage Reading knitting machines retired, they weren’t replaced and eventually the machines stopped: after all, it’s so much easier to make stockings on modern circular knit machines.

Modern sizing. Now for the really good news. They’re modern sizing, which means they’re come up longer on the leg! They’re the equivalent of our large Fully Fashioned Stocking. The size 11 is designed to fit a UK foot size 8, US 10, Eur 41.
