Waist Cincher FAQs
What is a Waist Cincher?
Waist Cinchers are garments made from a stretch fabric designed to cinch in your waist.
A Waspie is generally a shorter version of a Waist Cincher.
Both styles became popular during the 1950s when hourglass silhouettes were the height of fashion.
Our Waist Cinchers and Waspies are made from strong powermesh and feature spiral steel boning and elastic waist tapes.
What Waist Reduction Will I Get?
Although you won't get the dramatic curves a traditional corset will give you (or one of our Demi Corsets) a waist cincher should give you a visible reduction of a couple of inches to your waistline.
Often it is not the reduction that is the big change, but the fact that your body remains cinched throughout the day so your shape remains whether or not your posture relaxes or after having had lunch!
Where's the Magic?
The magic is provided by an elastic waist tape inside the garment. This means there is less stretch to the garment at the waist level resulting in more cinch. The stretch also ensures all day comfort.
Should I Size Down?
Our cinchers are sizes by dress size which isn't an exact science! However, we do include measurements for all our cinchers, both flat, and stretched 'as worn'.
While it is possible to size down for a tighter fit it's likely that the garment will pinch after a few hours wear, as well as undue stress being put on the hook and eye closure.
