Steel boned underbust corset with gored hips for a 'burlesque' corset shape.
Mae was our first corset to feature gored hips. The shape falls somewhere between Morticia and Gina: it's not quite as extremely curvy as the former, but slightly more so than the latter; with a longer-line busk.
The beauty of the goring is that the waist be cinched down as tightly as you like, with very little compression of the hips; resulting in a very pronounced hourglass shape.
Those with a large waist-hip ratio look particularly spectacular in Mae, as with all our gored hip designs. Unlike Morticia though, Mae is designed to suit most body shapes, and can help create a more wasp-waisted silhouette for modern figures.
The sizes below are reduced waist sizes (ie, the corset size when it is closed). You will need to deduct 8-10 cm from your waist to determine your corset size. Please see our Sizing Notes for more information. Mae should be in stock in black, but in the unlikely event of your size being sold out, the delay will be no more than a few days. Other colours are available to order: please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery.
These corsets are designed to work hard and reduce your waist by up to 10 cm. Please deduct 8 to 10 cm from your normal waist measurement to work out your corset size: a natural waist of 71 cm will give a corset size of 61 cm, whilst a natural waist size of 74 cm will give a corset size of 66 cm.
Designed to suit most body shapes.

The construction of this corset is impeccable! Every seam, every stitch is perfect. The materials are exquisite. The Mae leaves you with a splendid, curvy silhouette. The conical top helps to slim the upper torso, and the bottom has ample room for the swell of the hips.
This is my first, in what I hope to be a vast collection of decadent, delightful WKD corsets!

I picked up this corset in the LA shop recently and I will never shop anywhere else for corsets. Katie Thomas herself laced me into a 34" Mae corset and it was like my dreams had come true. Comfortable, beautiful, and virtually undetectable under clothing, this corset makes me look like I stepped out of the 1950s when worn with a skirt, petticoat and blouse. No pinching, no sore back, just a beautiful garment born of engineering and a love for vintage lingerie!

Beautifully made corset, I have invested in cheaper ones before and there is absolutely no comparison, very comfortable and easy to put on

I got Mae as my first ever corset. The online staff were really helpful in getting the right fit, and helped with troubleshooting after. I was a bit worried the hips and underbust would be a bit big but seasoing seems to be working it all out. Delivery (to Australia) was prompt, and like evertyhing else WKD wrapped in lovely paper with a bow. The corset itself is gorgeous, elegant, comfortable, gives me a nice reduction even loosely laced, and makes you walk proudly with a nice posture. Super impressed with the process and product from start to finish, will definitely be returning to What Katie Did for future corset + lingerie purchases.

I went into the London boutique for a fitting to find out which corset was best for me.
Although I was told (to my surprise) that I could fit into the curvier corsets like the vamp, in the end I went for this one in the 20".
The quality is amazing and the satin feels lovely to touch. It all seems very well made and to wear this corset is a dream. Its so comfortable even though I'm in the process of seasoning it and I'm excited to put it on each time.
I love that it has loops in to attach garters as I love wearing stockings, and have also worn it with a what Katie did suspender belt underneath and it was still comfortable.
Even though I was able to fit the curvier corsets, I found this just as comfortable as I have curvy hips (a corset like the gina was pinching in the hips) so being able to have hip gores on this make it great if you don't have a more vintage figure for some of the curvier corsets like the vamp but don't want pinching in the hips.
I also found that even when seasoning, even though theres not yet a reduction in my waist, it pulls my figure in really nicely and because of that it gives the appearance of a much smaller waist even though its not tight enough for a reduction. It also really flattens my tummy out.
For me this is a great starter corset before I eventually move onto something like the vamp and the price is amazing for the quality of the corset.
If anyone can go down to one of the boutiques I definitely recommend it. When trying on corsets in the London boutique the lovely ladies there Rachel and Sadie were lovely, showing me all the corsets, measuring me up and helping me pick one that I really loved and that suited my body well which over all contributed to how much I love this corset.

I am completely in love with this corset. I am very petite and short (5'1") with narrow hips (26" waist, 34" hips), and have never been able to find a corset that fit comfortably until I popped into the WKD store in LA one day and tried the 'Mae' on. The assistant there sized me into a 20", which I was doubtful of at first until she laced me in, and it fit beautifully! There were no gaps anywhere and no annoying pressure on my hips thanks to the gores. The length also fit my torso perfectly and gave a gorgeous, curvaceous shape. While this corset definitely gives a noticeable waist reduction, it isn't overly dramatic, which suits me perfectly. All in all, I highly recommend this corset--particularly to petite, straighter-figured ladies like myself, although I'm sure it would look amazing on curvier women as well! It is sturdy, comfortable, and flattering--and therefore, a wardrobe must-have.

I was very pleased with this corset and the shape it gave me. I am now able to order smaller waist size vintage dresses ^__^. It's very supportive and I love the gored panels at the hips. My only problem is that the laces in the back were not dyed to match the fabric. At this price there is no reason this should not be done. I ordered the "Peach" color corset and my laces where bright white which makes them look cheap and unfinished. I hope this improves in the future......

An amazing purchase! Shipping was fast to my home in Australia, and my beautiful corset was wrapped with care. I particularly appreciated the instructions for care and use that were included.
I tried it on immediately, and LOVED the fit - snug and supportive, without restricting movement and breathing. It moulded to fit my curves, and I wear it almost everywhere - it gives the most beautiful shape underneath clothes.
Thank you so much WKD - hopefully my first of many purchases. I will definitely visit your store in London when I am there this Autumn.

This corset arrived today and I tried it on immediately. I love it! I have been wearing it for several hours and it feels exceptionally comfortable. As someone who makes corsets (I was just feeling lazy this time), this is a very well made and produced garment, which is sturdy but not bulky. I am pear shaped and ordered a size 3 1/2 inches below my natural waist and the fit is ideal for a standard size garment, it produces a really nipped look (though now I wonder if I could cope with the Mae extreme?) One notable element about the fit is that the waist shaping is all at the sides, assisted by the hip gores. This means there is no uncomfortable squishing of the stomach. I ordered this in peach and love the colour; it is somewhat paler than the glamour range but doesn't clash.
Lovely work WKD! Excellent value too!

Well, what to say about this. It's fabulous, does everything it needs to and more, fits under my wedding dress beautifully as it has a nice low back. Will be ordering another one at some point. Beautifully made and very comfortable, so pleased with it, it's probably the nicest one I have ever owned, so glad to have found them.

This is my first corset and I have been wanting a corset for a while now, but I didn't have the nerve to buy one, until one day I decided to buy one and I am glad I did. The black corset fits amazingly. I love the style and the fabric. The boning inside of it, is incredible and the texture of the fabric. The Mae corset fits nicely. It even has a modesty panel and it comes with instructions inside of the box. So when you get the box, don't throw it away until you get the directions out and the other paper that it comes with, it's wrapped beautifully too and the ribbon is awesome with the store name. I am so glad I bought from whatkatiedid.com. The prices are reasonable too, not too expensive and not a cheap knock off. I don't recommend the cheap knock offs at all. If this is your first time or you want to buy another corset, check out this website. :)

I had read a lot of great reviews about all of the WKD-corsets on various vintage blogs, and Mae kept popping up most of the lot. I'd worn and loved wearing corsets before, but didn't think that it would be so wildly different from other types that I'd tried. Let me tell you right away: I was wrong. I'm still able to lace into a pretty noticeable hourglass (especially compared to my fairly straight natural waist), but because it's an underbust it's still comfortable after many hours of sitting, standing and dancing. It is also very easy to do up, again largely in part to being an underbust, and the hip gores are a godsend for a hippy girl! I'm already eyeing the other corsets covetously, not to mention the lingerie and all the other pretty things...

I love love love Mae! This is my favourite underbust corset. It is so comfortable to wear for 8-9 hours a day & really gives a great hourglass shape. Sits really well over clothes to be shown off, but also wears really well under clothes as it goes quite invisable.

I love this corset especially because it doesn't give an extremely dramatic figure which is great for beginners, but it still goes over the hips and has hip gores so you can cinch as much on your waist as you please without any pressure on your hips, which is a great relief!
