For this elegant styling sequence we've chosen a grey pencil dress with bow collar and buttons, shown off to best effect by our Glamour Nouveau Corselette. This is a true vintage piece from Malone's Vintage in Cheltenham UK, and is modelled here by the proprietor and pinup model, Missy Malone.
Corselettes are not only perfect for giving a smooth line under tight dresses, but also to prevent damage when wearing true vintage garments. The grey dress that Missy wears dates back to the 1950s and seams are likely to have suffered some damage over the years.
A corselette will give you just a little leeway when wearing a tight fitting dress, especially when you are moving from sitting to standing allowing you to enjoy yourself instead of worrying about splitting a seam.
We've styled Missy's vintage grey dress with contrasting grey and black seamed stockings. Grey is the perfect alternative to black, especially if you are going for a day time look. The contrasting black seams ensure that our grey nylons also look fantastic with an all black ensemble.
Corselettes are one of the most important pieces of shapewear vintage fashionistas should own. They give a smooth line from bust to thigh which is perfect for fitted styles from the mid 1940s to the mid 1960s.
Historically you've had to step and wiggle into your corselette, but to make life easier we've added a hook and eye fastening at the front which doesn't show, even under the most fitted dress.
We've added a unique concealed elastic waist tape to our Glamour Nouveau Corselette. Corselettes in the past have had the tendency to smooth out your curves rather than enhance them. The waist tape adds a little more shape to your waist.
