16th January 2008 - London Fashion Week

What Katie Did will at The Metropolitan Hotel during London Fashion Week (11th to 14th February). The Ministry of Burlesque are transforming one of the rooms into a decadent burlesque boudoir complete with peepshow whilst we'll be previewing our SS08 collection to the press. We'll also be at the press launch for the Passion Show (retail exhibition at Earls Court in May) which takes place on 12th February. Unfortunately both events are for press only, but here's a little preview of our Gypsy Striptease set which makes up part of the new collection and will be available just in time for Valentine's Day.

 

11th January 2008 - Appearance on ITV's This Morning

Put a note in your diary to watch This Morning on Thursday 17th January as we're on it! This Morning are doing a series of features on girls into the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Next Thursday it's the turn of the 1950s and on Wednesday they bought 1950s fashion collector Naomi into our boutique to be filmed being fitted for a bullet bra, whilst I discussed 1950s style shapewear with presenter Jenny Eclaire.

9th January 2008 - I-D Magazine Cover

I have to admit that the beginning of 2008 has been very good to us - and it's just got better as we're on the cover of next month's ID magazine! It's not on the shelves yet (trust us, we've searched thoroughly) but should be out soon. The cover features our power lace corselette and Maitresse suspender belt. I'm not sure if there's anything else inside - I guess we'll have to wait and see!

4th January 2008 - Costuming Workshop

We've just finalised the details for our first burlesque costuming workshop with Ruby Rouge. It takes place in our London boutique on Sunday 17th February and will focus on pasties (nipple tassels). Full details can be found here.

3rd January 2008 - Simply Frilling!

I hope all of you had a great New Year's Eve and are looking forward to 2008. It seems that most of the What Katie Did team spent Christmas flu-ridden and I have to admit that not as much champagne was consumed as normal (the good point being that not as many Christmas pounds have been added as normal either!)

23rd December 2007

I was hoping to do a retrospective of 2007 but things are still going crazy and it looks unlikely that I'll find time. Even as I've been trying to write this I've been interrupted by the arrival of final samples of our swanky new Striptease set  (tie side knickers and bra) which are due to be launched just in time for Valentine's Day. Never mind, if you want to look back on the year with us then click the links to previous news at the bottom of the page.

Even though we should be winding down for Christmas now the last week has thrown us some unmissable opportunities - most are top secret so I can't tell you any more at the moment but I can tell you that Miss Ruby Rouge will be having  some nipple tassel and fascinator workshops in our boutique, the first is a tassel class which takes place on Sunday 17th of February. We had a little lunch for everyone based at head office on Tuesday which was very civilised - in comparison to our boutique's outing to the Ministry of Burlesque bash at the Met Bar on Wednesday. We donated a couple of prizes to go to the 2 best dressed people - the first two of which happened to be WKD photographer Tony Rusecki and boutique manager Clare! Luckily the winner was chosen by Miss Slinky Sparkles who works in the boutique when she's not doing saucy Santa burlesque routines.

11th December 2007

Tony Rusecki met up with Slinky Sparkles earlier this week to work on an instructional video on 'how to put on a corset'. It's raced to the top of YouTube's 'educational film' section for some reason!
