Bettie
Maitresse Marlene looks for an alternative
source of inspiration
This years Rubber Ball theme is
Retro Fetish/Glamour, this conjures up all sorts of wonderful visions of the
past. I have always had a fascination with the film stars of the 1940’s and
1950’s. These were periods of real glamour and the utmost style. I remember
watching old black and white films. The women were so strong and alluring. I
adore Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Lana
Turner, and of course Jayne Mansfield. These are role models that you can
choose to copy and look ultra stylish. First choose your starlet. Next you
need a good image or photograph. It is good to possibly have a full length
shot as well as a close up for the make-up. You definitely need the right
make-up and clothes. This sounds difficult but can be achieved quite easily
with my tips.
Tip one: be comfortable with
your own body and skin. Learn to love and appreciate your body shape and
curves. All of the movie stars had to create an illusion of attitude and
strength. In most cases a touch of vulnerability will shine through and a
mixture of all of the above is really the most potent combination.
Tip two: Decide on a budget to achieve your look. Real vintage clothing
doesn’t come cheap as costumes from the 1950’s are rare indeed and highly
coveted. I suggest that you start with some basic items from "What Katie
Did". A Bullet Bra is a good stop traffic look. They come in most
sizes and can be worn on their own or under a sweater. An alternative is a
basque or corset. I feel that a corset can enhance your hips and create the
perfect hour glass shape we all desire. Fully fashioned seamed stockings are
essential. You can add a tight pencil skirt and "Voila!" You are a sex
siren.
