|
|
Hi - I am getting married next October and I am having a fifties style wedding. As a woman I have lots of choice of websites and shops to buy my dress from but I am a bit stuck to what my fella will wear. There doesn't seem to be a lot of shops out there for mens fifties fashion. He would like to wear a fifties style suit. Any ideas on where to look?
Thanks |

Keep your eye on the ruffled.com blog too. It's all about retro and vintage weddings, you might see something inspiring.
My betrothed is wearing his air force uniform to our 30s/art deco wedding next October |

I would suggest he looks at Rocacha Tailoring http://www.rocacha.com. They do made to measure suits in a range of fabrics, styles and prices. My chap's got 3 suits from him and a couple of pairs of trousers- in fact if you look on the links section he is the 4th photo down taken when we were at VLV.
For his shirts and accessories try The Vintage Shirt Company http://www.vintageshirt.co.uk/. For shoes try Rocket Originals http://www.rocketoriginals.co.uk/.
If you want original clothing try Rusty Zipper http://www.rustyzipper.com/. The suit section is pretty extensive.
These are all suggestions from my chap and places his has parted with his hard earned so rest assured they are quality recommendations! |

Not only was there a spammer (bathrobes?!) but I got confused and spelt "close" as "clothes". Erm... whoops....
Ah, I was looking at Rocacha the other day, Miss R. It looked quite good. I think I might have to hide it from my boyfriend!!! He's been able to find some good vintage suits on Ebay from American sellers. _________________ www.pinup-parade.com |

Not directly answering the question, but ...
The last wedding I went to had about 100 guests, of whom only about 5 (all male) were wearing trousers. This was Scotland, though. Much as I would have liked to wear a dress, I wore my kilt - it doesn't feel remotely like wearing an ordinary skirt - it makes you feel incredibly masculine ... and women love it. Amazed at how many women find it acceptable to try t look up a skirt worn by the opposite sex, though (I had matching male underwear on - the 'traditional' approach is a bit grubby), and kilts are much more expensive than even really good skirts, so they have to be looked after. So how about putting the men in kilts? _________________ I just like to look elegant ... in a skirt or dress ... and hey ... perhaps I do! |
