| I think they're all beautiful (particularly the last two pics!), but i have to admit i had never heard of the 'lolita' style before now! |

| Same here: I knew about the gothic lolita look (all especially as Malice Mizer is probably my favorite band ever) but not the retro one. That's so cute! |

When I first found out about the fashion I was intrigued but it still all seemed a little far-fetched and out of reach, now I’m hooked however! I know it can be irritating being constantly directed to Wikipedia(!) but wiki has a genuinely very informative and fairly well-balanced article on lolita fashion, I think as a brief overview it’s the best info I’ve found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita_fashion |

'that's so cute' is probably my most used phrase, it's hard not to be charmed by the cute factor I think! |

I'd love to go about dressed like a Victorian, so Lolita seems like a convenient way of doing it!
But I'm nearly 31.... _________________ www.pinup-parade.com |

Nearly 31? – That’s still plenty young m’dear! I hope this gal doesn’t mind (she posted in a public, open forum) but she’s a great example of a 30+ woman rocking the look (she’s 41) http://community.livejournal.com/daily_lolita/2493300.html#cutid1. It’s interesting too how the thread coaxed other lolita fashion followers into revealing their age! |

I got laughed and pointed at on the bus for wearing an Dr Zhivago-style fake fur hat today so I don't think a crinoline will work somehow! _________________ www.pinup-parade.com |

I've loved Lolita style (when done well, as opposed to the cliched juvenile stuff) for years - I love retro styling and Victorian looks with a twist and am not adverse to going a bit crazy, so I suppose its understandable in my case.
As someone who's a bit smaller in terms of height and width, clothes shopping in Asian-owned shops can be a fairly good experience - fitted clothes, lots of detailing and made for shorter women who aren't particularly busty, so I'm good |

I love those photo's, though I wouldn't really describe all of them 'Lolita'. Some of those outfits are actually very elegant and conservative rather than child-like, but perhaps I'm just out of date! I bought the first Fruits book when it came out, and the box set of postcards, as I've always enjoyed a lot of Japanese pop culture. Japanese (and Chinese) girls do look amazing, but not just the ones that get photographed, I think they always look fab even when they aren't wearing clothes that are particularly "look at me".
PT - Those morons laughing at your gorgeous hat were obviously just jelous that they didn't have the courage to look good. |

Goodness only knows what they were wearing to think that a pretty fake fur hat should be laughed at
I get the odd looks mostly for make-up on the bus - my MAC red has a tendency to startle people and I once heard a boy at the back going (as if I wasn't able to hear): "She's got red lipstick on...and she's put WHITE stuff on her FACE!" Which, incidentally, was a face powder slightly darker than my natural skin tone |

Bah! Dr Zhivago-style hats are fantastic – I may have said something but only to tell you that it rocked! |

I had a feeling there might be some followers and/or admirers on here! I must confess, I do still like some of the more ridiculous looking stuff but I tend to only dress that way for clubs or events, it’s a bit like stepping out as a living doll!
I loved shopping in Japan so much, I too found that the sizing was ideal for me, especially the shoes (although perhaps not so much these days since I’ve put on a bit of weight ^^; ). I think the attention to detail is what I admire so much about Japanese clothing, it’s hard not to fall in love |
