Stockings & Girdles are in for AW09
Christian Dior has always been a bit of an obsession of mine - particularly his Corolle or 'New Look' collection which was launched in 1947 and included impossibly nipped in waists and full, full skirts. Last month I was lucky enough to visit his childhood home in Granville, Normandy, which now houses the Christian Dior museum and stocked up on books all about both Christian Dior and his designs.
I'm particularly captivated about how his atelier operated, with his early shows being shown on the premises with the press, favoured customers and friends finding themselves crammed into the room and all of the way up the staircase. John Galliano was also inspired by this and used it for the base of his AW09 show - which just so happens to be very 'New Look' in style. Of particular interest to us is the fact that he's either used sheer skirts, or whipped them away completely to reveal peach girdles and seamed stockings. Looking very closely at the stockings I can see that they're made in the same factory as our 15 denier seamed and 15 denier contrast seamed stockings (well, it is the best stocking factory in France!) For a similar girdle why not try our Glamour Girdle in vintage peach?
