Behind the Scenes
On Wednesday this week Richard and myself had a day out at Juarez Traditional Fabrication (no website yet but checkout their page on the Flathead Meltdown site). Marco has only just moved into his new workshop and Richard and photographer Tony couldn't wait to head there for a pin up and hot rod shoot. Of course, they're not the ones who had to strip off on a very blustery and cold March day, in hindsight a sunny July morning might have been a wiser choice. The shoot was for Tony's new top secret project and Richard was in charge of getting some pictures of 'us at work'.
Unfortunately Richard has now been working at What Katie Did for so long a scantily clad Miss Polly Rae and Miss Miranda weren't enough to grab his attention and we only came away with a few pictures, most of which included Tony perched precariously up a ladder (not ones to skimp on research we'd read a 'how to photograph cars' article the day before which insisted that you had to shoot from low down to make your car look 'phat', in true What Katie Did fashion we quickly decided to do the exact opposite - hence the ladder!)
You'll have to wait a while to find out what all of this is in aid of (we're aiming for September!) but no doubt a few pictures will find themselves online before then.

On the Telly!
We've just been on This Morning, which is very exciting apart from the fact that we all work for a living so didn't actually see it. Actually, I tell a lie as Cara is poorly today and has been asked to take notes from her sofa. She hasn't reported back yet but from another forum Holli-Mae from 21st Century Pin Ups has exclaimed 'that corselette is going to sell out!' I presume she means this one:
I'll let you know what else was featured as soon as we find out. It was a little disappointing for Helen from The Pin Up Parade as she'd sent some of her Bettie Page dresses in (of which I have several) but none were used.
UPDATE: the feature has now been uploaded to the
This Morning website and can be viewed by
clicking here.
In the meantime, we're back to the 'blink and you'll miss it' pictures in the magazines. April's Company has featured our Glamour suspender belt - just!

Sunday Times Style Magazine
In recent weeks we've had a few bits of press in prestigious magazines that we've been very excited about, even if it is only a brief glimpse of a suspender clasp. So, although I was excited to know that something was going to be featured in Sunday Times Style magazine today, I presumed it would be another arty 'glimpse and you'll miss it' shot. I was out on a shoot yesterday and must have been quite tired in the evening when I saw a preview in the Saturday Times - it looked as if our cheetah print Jane bra was on the cover - surely some mock up and they'd replace it with Agent Provocateur or some such for the real thing.
Today it turns out that not only did we have the cover but five full pages inside. I know it isn't fashion to get excited but just let me say weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Cover features Jane Lingerie and Retro Seamed Stockings. Page 41 features Glamour Corselette.

Left page features Maitresse Bullet Bra, Glamour Girdle (this has been mis-credited in the magazine) and Retro Seamed Stockings. Right picture features Harlow lingerie and Retro Seamed Stockings.
In The Press
I've been waited with baited breath for April's Vogue to be published as we were told we had some items in it. It arrived today, although I'm still not entirely sure what we do have in it as it's one of those arty shoots! However, it is very nice to be mentioned in the same sentence as John Galliano and Bottega Veneta. It's fashion daaarling! I know we sent them most of our Maitresse lingerie so I'd check that out if you want to get the look.

Rather clearer were the two shots that Psychologies magazine used to publicise the London Burlesque Fest that takes place at the beginning of April. Clare normally deals with press, but they called in pictures whilst she was away sunning herself on a beach - and they happened to use one of her which she knew nothing about and made her jump a little when she opened the page! Clare wears our Dolly corset and frilly knickers.

In The Press
Finally, last Sunday we were in the Sunday Times. It was a bit belated as we were told that we'd be in it twice in January and February, but apart from the merest shadow of a bullet bra in a Mad Men feature, nothing appeared. This week, our Glamour panty girdle (or at least the bottom of it) made it into the Sunday Times Style section and we hope have a little more in there soon. Ruka, who works part time in our boutique trimming and making pasties and fascinators, beat us to it with a half page in the Saturday Times. Ruka runs a knicker workshop and the feature gave it glowing reviews. Ruka will be holding a pastie workshop later this month in our boutique.

Our Maitresse bullet bra was also featured in the News of the World's Fabulous magazine a couple of weeks ago.
