In the first part of the 20th century seamed silk stockings were the stockings everyone wanted. Unfortunately they were expensive and most women wore rayon (fake silk) stockings. As soon as WWII started all silk was needed to produce parachutes and most women had to make do with rayon (and poor quality rayon at that as the good quality stuff went for parachutes and the like). Our seamed rayon stockings come from a company that supplies the film and and televison industry and have a CC41 utility imprint on the welt.
* 75 denier rayon * sewn seam (no finishing loop but they do have picot lines) * welt imprint * Cuban heel
As these stockings are thick they have limited stretch. Made from thick rayon these stockings have little stretch, and as rayon was favoured in the 1940s they were designed to be worn with girdles so sit lower down on the leg. As a dress size 14, blessed with size 8 feet, the size large fit me with a girdle - just!
